Womens Hair Loss Treatment
Men and women worldwide are affecting by hair thinning and hair loss and can suffer significant anxiety and distress as a result. There are many effective treatments that are clinically proven to halt the progression of hair loss and help the hair regrow. The sooner these treatments are started the beter the results.
Women are most affected by hair loss after the menopause but approximately 13% of women have some degree of hair thinning before the menopause. Women can benefit from the same medical treatments for hair loss as men can. These treatments are clinically proven not only to stop hair loss progression but also to achieve hair regrowth. The sooner treatments are used the better the results.
Hair loss in women occurs for a number of reasons. It can be due to general ill health and stress, low ferritin levels, endocrine disorder, thyroid disorder, nutritional deficiencies and overuse of hair extensions (traction alopecia). Telogen effluvium is the term used to describe diffuse hair thinning and hair loss. This can happen over a short period of time or over a long period of time depending on the cause.
Hair loss in men is known as androgenic alopecia or ‘male pattern baldness’. Hair loss and thinning in men is a common problem with almost 50% of men by the age of 50 reporting some extent of hair thinning. Male pattern baldness typically starts with ahir thinning at the front in the 20’3 and 30′s. This then progresses to hair loss in the crown area (on top of the head) and results in an eventual enlargement of a central patch that then meets up with the frontal thinning. In some men this can happen over a space of about 5 years, in others it can progress over 20 years. The important thing to do is to seek help when the hair is thinning rather than waiting for it to be completely lost.
