What treatments are available?

Multi-pulsed light (MPL) can be used for permanent hair reduction, removal of thread veins and removal of uneven pigmentation such as freckles and age/sun spots. It can also treat active acne and rosacea very well.

Is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment safe?

The new generation IPL machines achieve outstanding clinical results.
The new generation MPL electro-0ptical technology is the safest technology of this type on the market and is safe in virtually all skin types, including darker skin types which have a higher concentration of melanin. It also achieves better results on lighter haired individuals which many other machines have difficulty with. We always do a patch test on clients before proceeding to treatment to ensure that the treatment is tolerated well. All our treatments are done in house by highly trained Doctors and Nurses who have an in depth knowledge of dermatology and skin medicine. The Skin Clinic Sevenoaks has a flawless clinical reputation and prides itself on dermatological excellence.

How does it work?

Hair can be permanently removed by pulsed light (IPL/MPL) that delivers tiny pulses of light to the hair follicle that stops hair growing without damaging any other parts of the skin. Active acne can be treated with pulsed light because the light can target and destroy the bacteria Proprionoibacterium acnes, the bacteria central to the pathogenesis of acne. It also can help reduce sebum production which also helps reduce acne. Dr Ward’s special interest is acne treatment with light and her dissertation on this subject was awarded a distinction. In the treatment of thread veins the light breaks down the haemoglobin molecules.  The Skin Clinic has invested in this technology because it gives superior clinical results and is safer in all skin types. This technology is fast becoming known as the Gold Standard in places such as the USA and Australia which are ahead of the UK  in the field of aesthetics.
