Dermal Fillers Kent

Dermal FillersDermal fillers are injected into the dermal layer of skin to soften lines and re-volumise the face. They are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar in the skin that gives it its volume and structure. As we age our levels of hyaluronic acid deplete and the skin begins to lose volume, fold and sag. Dermal fillers are a quick and easy way to restore facial volume and reduce wrinkles.

Fillers can also be injected into the lips to enhance the lip contour and to add volume to the lips and they can be used to redefine the cheeks, chin and nose.

The Skin Clinic uses only the best brands of fillers and each treatment is tailored to suit your individual needs. People age in different ways and lose volume in the face at different rates. It is important that you receive your treatment from someone who is an expert in dermal fillers. Dr Ward and her team have many years experience with facial fillers so you know you are in expert hands. All the staff are advanced injectors and will ensure that your treatment obeys the golden rules of facial symmetry and proportion. The clinic’s ethos is ‘less is more’ and so your clinician will ensure that your results look natural. The Skin Clinic is not tied to any brand and therefore uses products hand picked by Dr Ward for their superior volumising and anti-ageing results. Brands used include Juvederm, Restylane and Teosyal. All dermal fillers used in the clinic are CE certified and comply with European Standards and Regulation.

What can I expect?

Treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. Your clinician will prepare your skin by applying a local anesthetic cream to help reduce any discomfort. The injections may cause a little bit of localized discomfort but should not be painful.

How will I look after treatment?

Your skin may look slightly red after your treatment. Minor bruising may occur which you may want to cover up with a concealer. If you have had your lips treated these tend to be rather sensitive and may swell a little for the first few days. You may want to schedule your appointment for a time when you do not have important meetings.

When will I see results?

You will notice some improvement immediately afterwards and will continue to see improvements over the first week as the hyaluronic acid starts to bind moisture and plump out skin folds.

How long do they last?

On average dermal fillers last between 6 and 9 months. Cheeks filler can last up to 18 months. They are not permanent and re-injection will need to be done to maintain desired results.

Where can fillers be used?

Fillers can be used in many parts of the face to help soften lines, add volume and restore hydration to the skin . Areas that can be treated include:

- Jowl lines between nose and lips
- Marionette lines (under mouth)
- Perioral lines (around mouth)
- Frown lines
- Cheeks (to replace volume lost in the mid face and drooping)
- Chin (to redefine)
- Lips (to enhance, define and volumise)
- Décolletage areas and neck where sun has damaged the skin
- Hands

What happens if I don’t like it?

Dermal fillers can be dissolved if you do not like your treatment results.

Who shouldn’t have fillers?

You should avoid treatments if you are pregnant/breastfeeding or you are sensitive to hyaluronic acid. We do not advise treatment if you have a current facial infection such as herpes/coldsores. Caution should be exercised if you have had any other recent (last 4 weeks) laser/chemical treatment or if you have a tendency to scar or hyperpigment. Please ask your Clinician for further guidance on your suitability for treatment and book a free consultation.
