Botox® Kent
‘Botox‘ is a brand name for a toxin isolated from the bacteria Chlostridium Botulinum. Botulinum toxin is a purified protein that is injected in micro amounts into the small muscles of the face to relax and smooth out lines. Botulinum treatments are our most popular non-surgical treatment. Millions of people worldwide have used botulinum injections to reduce facial wrinkles and it now has FDA approval for use in cosmetic medicine.
Our medical team has extensive experience with these treatments and will tailor your treatment to suit your individual needs. The Skin Clinic believes that all cosmetic treatments should look natural and subtle and we are firm upholders of the philosophy ‘less is more’… After your treatment you will look revived and refreshed not frozen!
Treatments take approximately 15 minutes. The botulinum is injected into carefully selected facial muscles with very fine needles so that it is virtually painless. After treatments you can carry on with your normal daily activities, however we advise that you avoid anything too strenuous such as heavy exercise and avoid sun tanning and facials for the first week post treatment.
On average it takes 2-14 days for the results to become noticeable. At The Skin Clinic we offer everyone a review at 2 weeks to ensure the desired results have been achieved. Any tweaks or top ups can be carried out at the 2 week review to ensure optimal results. This is always free of charge to our clients.
Everyone is different but an average treatment lasts 4-5 months.
The most common areas for botulinum treatments and the areas that yield the best results are:
- frown lines
- forehead lines
- laughter lines/crows feet
Botulinums can be used in other parts of the face if appropriate. Your clinician will advise you further. An increasingly popular treatment is the botulinum brow lift, a technique used to create the impression of a higher brow arch and reverse the drooping that often creeps in with increasing age. Ask Dr Ward or Haley for more details.
Who shouldn’t have botulinum injections?
It is not recommended that pregnant or breastfeeding women have botulinum treatments. Some (less commonly used) antibiotics should not be taken at the same time as your botulinum treatments, please ask your clinician if you need further information. Anyone with a neuromuscular disorder should not have botulinum injections. Your clinician can advise you further about these cautions.
The Skin Clinic is the premiere destination for Botox in Essex and Kent.
